Design and synthesis of transparent and flexible nanofibrillated cellulose films to replace petroleum-based polymers

چکیده
Nanofibrillated cellulose films have garnered attention due to their interesting proprieties such as transparency and high mechanical strength. However, they are brittle, very hydrophilic, which is decreasing potential applications. We successfully achieved a simple effective chemical modification based on polymer grafting through plasticizer additions increase the performance of well improve compatibility within conventional polymer. A preliminary study shows possibility using this film an interlayer in safety glazing and/or bulletproof glass with polyvinyl butyral (PVB). The modified NFC displays optical transmittance (93 %), increases tensile stretch more hydrophobic (83°). higher flexibility was also achieved, greatly stretched bended without cracking or breaking. / PVB composite has three times elongation at break, 13 % specific energy absorbed half-tensile stress compared PVB.
